New Year, New JCPL Website!
Welcome to the new JCPL website! Take a look around, knock some dust off the displays.
In a way a new website is kind of like moving into a new library home in the physical world. The books are the same, and a lot of the features seem familiar, but there are new paths to get used to, and new nooks and crannies to explore everywhere. Trust us when we say this is not last year's web library.
This change is a project that has been in the works for more than a year, and came in response to surveys, and to our own changing needs, and as a way for the library to set our online presence up for the future. The technospeak: This website is built using an open-source program called Drupal, and was built entirely by library staff. You can read more about it on our theme info page.
In one sense, the library website never stops changing, so we don't expect this to be the end of anything. For instance, without giving too much away, or making promises we can't keep, we can say much thought has also been given to a more mobile interface for the site.
A grand tour may not be your style, but there are some features you might want to take note of:
Our online contact form. Now, you can email us directly from the website itself. The site will no longer require you to have an email program set up on the interface you are using. In fact, if you have a question to Ask A Librarian, you can leave us a phone number as your point of contact and we will ring you!
Some new interactive features: Suggest an item for the collection. If you have something you've been wanting to see here, let us know. Share your library story with us, and let others know what you think about libraries.
We are always still looking for ways we can better serve you, so please send suggestions, thoughts, questions our way.
And have a Happy New Year!
