Free HSE testing locally in 2020

Good news worth sharing! Adult Education and Learning Centers of Northwest Indiana are offering FREE High School Equivalency (HSE) Testing through December 30, 2020.

This free testing is made possible through the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act, passed by Congress. The following steps are required to earn a scholarship for the HSE test (formerly called the GED):

  1. Enroll in classes through an Adult Education & Learning Center of Northwest Indiana
  2. Complete 30 hours of class time in two weeks or less
  3. Pass the HSE readiness test

Those interested should call 1-877-607-0680 and select the ‘Adult Education’ option to register.

The Adult Education and Learning Centers of Northwest Indiana are a part of Center of Workforce Innovations. CWI directly delivers services such as career advising, provides credit recovery programming, has community learning centers for adult education services while overseeing a network of adult education providers, and they provide oversight for the American Job Centers, known as WorkOne in Indiana.

There are a number of WorkOne offices located in northwest Indiana, including one in Rensselaer. WorkOne staff can assist with a variety of employment services – for both employers and job seekers.
