Reading Programs and Book Groups

Books are even better when you can share them with a friend.

Each of our libraries offers monthly book discussion groups where you can meet with other readers, talk about themes and issues in some notable titles, and get to learn and talk about the story behind the story.

Some locations also offer unique reading programs on an ongoing basis or from time to time.

For more information, contact your local library or check out our calendar for upcoming dates and times.

Bookies of DeMotte

You are invited to come to DeMotte Library's book discussions. These discussions are held at two separate times - 2:00 pm OR 7:00 pm.

Both meetings will be held on the same day and discussing the same book.

“The time to read is any time: no apparatus, no appointment of time and place, is necessary. It is the only art which can be practised at any hour of the day or night, whenever the time and inclination comes, that is your time for reading; in joy or sorrow, health or illness.”

- Holbrook Jackson

This program, aimed at adults, has been gathering a small but loyal crowd at the library as Wheatfield Branch Manager Diana Kooy reads aloud selections from literary magazines such as The New Yorker as well as a variety of short stories from across a wide range of genres. Read on for an article about this program originally published in our Between the Lines blog.
