Books for Bucks is back at the DeMotte Library starting in May

This summer at the DeMotte Library, reading will earn young adults the chance to win cash prizes! “Books for Bucks” is back, and kicks off with online registration at the beginning of May. Books for Bucks is open to teens entering grades 5-12, and all you have to do to participate is stop in the library, pick up a reading record sheet and read!

This summer’s Books for Bucks theme is “Express Yourself.” Weekly cash prizes will be awarded, as well as special coupons to area businesses. Coupons must not exceed a total of six per participant. Items read for the program may include books, magazines, or newspapers, must be checked out from the DeMotte Library, and be age appropriate. Registration for this program begins May 1 and will continue throughout the month of May. Reading booklets may be picked up in the library beginning June 1.

A variety of weekly programs will also be offered each Thursday at 2 pm. Open to all Books for Bucks participants, some programs to look forward to this summer include Cooking 101, a visit from performer, Dan Lemonnier, and a party.

Photography Contest at Rensselaer Library

Teens can win prizes for their photographic talents this summer. Details available in the Rensselaer Library summer reading packets for teens.

 

Express Yourself Summer Reading Program starting at Rensselaer

Teens grades are invited to sign up for the Summer Reading program “ Express Yourself @ Your Library”. Signups will be held all week at the library May 26-30; (you can sign-up online also, you just need to pick up your packet at the library). 

For every 150 minutes read, prizes will be awarded and teens will be given an entry into the grand prize drawing.  Programs that go along with the theme will be offered on Tuesday evenings.

Ice Cream Social-Summer Reading Kickoff Saturday, Jun. 6. This program is for children and teens who have signed up for summer reading. You must have a ticket to attend.

Wheatfield Library is hosting Books for Bucks reading program this summer

Teens, this summer, reading can earn you cash! Beginning June 1, teens who have completed grades 4-11 are invited to participate in the Wheatfield Library’s Books for Bucks Summer Reading Program, where this year’s theme is “Express Yourself @ Your Library.” To join, just stop in and pick up a reading record sheet, check out books, and read, read, read! Each book read earns you an entry into the weekly cash drawing and each 4 books read earns you a special coupon to area businesses.

Wheatfield Events:

In addition, weekly programs will be held each Thursday from 2-3 pm:

Cooking 101 on June 11

Duct Tape Craft on June 18

Flip Flop Decorating on June 25

Bingo on July 2

The final drawing and a party will be held on July 7.

Registration is required to attend these programs.
