Library summer reading gives teens a lot to choose from

Own The Night is the Teen Summer Reading Program this summer at all JCPL libraries. Now is the time to visit your local library to sign up, pick up reading packets, read the various rules, and get started Reading!!

At DeMotte, summer reading is open to teens entering grades 5-12.  Teens will need to keep track of the minutes they read and can earn special local coupons, as well as put their name in the drawing for cash prizes. Special programs will be on Thursdays at 2pm - registration required:  June 7th is Teen Game Day, June 14th is author Mark Marimen presenting, June 21 is Nintendo Wii play, June 28th is Craft Day, July 5th is movie day with Adventures of Tin Tin, and July 12th is the Party, where the Grand Prize Drawing will take place.

At Wheatfield, the program is open to teens entering grades 5-12.  Teens will keep track of the minutes they read and can earn special coupons, as well as put their name in the drawing for cash prizes.  Special programs will be on Thursdays at 2pm: June 7th is Wii Gaming Day, June 14th is Bingo, June 21st is author Mark Marimen presenting, June 28th is Craft Day, and July 5th is the Party, where the Grand Prize Drawings will take place.

At Rensselaer, the program is for teens entering grades 6-12.  Tickets can be earned by reading minutes, and attending special programs/events.  Tickets will then be put into a Grand Prize Drawing at the end of the program.  Special programs will take place on Tuesdays at 2 pm:  June 12th - Mark Marimen will be presenting, June 19th is a Teen Altered Books Program, June 26th is Are You Afraid of the Dark, July 3rd is Oh My Stars! A Constellation Program, July 10th from 8-10pm is a Zombie Prom/Movie on the Lawn. Teens are also invited to the Ice Cream Social kick off on June 6 and the Watermelon Feed wrap up party on July 18th . Both events are on Wednesdays from 3-4 pm.

If you were planning to do some reading anyway this summer, or you wanted to try out some fun events, the library is the place to be.
