The Jasper County Public Library would like to thank the community for the success of this year’s Summer Reading Programs! These programs would not be possible without the donations received from local businesses and organizations, the volunteers who help each week, and the excited patrons who participate!

Every year, at each location, children eagerly read to receive rewards such as animal balloons, silly putty, wiggly wooden snakes, tumbler cups, beach mats, Gary Southshore RailCat tickets, Indiana Beach tickets, pool passes, and more, and enter into other grand-prize drawings.

The DeMotte Library was pleased this year to have served over 220 youth and teens with programs and weekly performances by Indiana Wild, Magician CR Ryan, Circus Boy Bobby Hunt, Harrington’s ATA Martial Arts, and Jump Up! Family Music, as well as Craft Day, Northwest Indiana Solid Waste District’s Enviro-Survivor, Movie Day, and an Ice-Cream Sundae Party for teens.

Youth grand-prize winners were Taylor Anderson, Mitchall Yonkman, Logan Nomanson, Madison Mestrovich, and Connor Myers. Cameron Roach was the winner of this year’s young-adult grand-prize.

At the end of the Summer Reading Programs, all youth and teens that had completed their reading requirements were invited to a pool party, sponsored by the town of DeMotte and the Spencer Park Pool.

Donations were graciously provided by the following businesses: the Friends of the DeMotte Library, DQ Grill and Chill, KFC, Hoosier Metals, Family Express, Beautiful Inspirations, Gene & Tony’s DeMotte Auto Sales, Gary Southshore RailCats, Indiana Beach, REMC and other independent donors.

This year’s volunteers were treated to a pizza party at the end of the program. Volunteers were: Mary Sumara, Ashley Retzlaff, Chris Berns, Brooke Dills, Gianna Reyes, Mark Nuttall, Rebecca Hanewich, Alyssa Allen, Felicia Galusha, Kailin Burden, Alyssa Dermody, Jared Stemper, and Brianna FitzHenry.

The Rensselaer Public Library would like to extend a huge thank you to the following businesses and organizations for graciously contributing toward our Summer Reading Programs. With your generous support, we were able to have a successful and fun-filled summer of reading! Thanks to: Alliance Bank, Gary  Railcats, Hillcrest Dental, Indiana Beach, Jordan’s, Kentland Bank, National Merchant’s Corporation, REMC, Rensselaer Friends of the Library, Rensselaer Family Dentistry, Save-a-Lot, Slice of Pie, Stunt Dawg & Studio 110, Subway, Tim’s Auto Body & Sales, Ziese Plumbing and Bonnie Louck and other independent donors.

The Summer Reading Program would not be possible each year without the help of your dedicated Teen Volunteers. The Rensselaer Library would also like to thank these individuals for their hard work, commitment and assistance: Lena Barko, Charity Best, Jordan Best, Courtney Budd, Emily Budd, Sarah Burton, Laura-Jane Capehart, Allie Cox, Hayley Cox, Jane Cox, Sabrina Hauger, Sadie Johnson, Bree McDaniel, Kayla McDaniel, Abby Northcutt and Calla Tomlinson. Also a special thanks to Amelia Richard for helping out.

The Wheatfield Library’s “Dig Into Reading” Summer Reading Program for kids and “Books for Bucks: Beneath the Surface” Summer Reading Program for teens were both a huge success, and we’d like to express our thanks to the following businesses and organizations for their generosity, as our Summer Reading Programs would not be possible without the support of our local businesses.

This year’s cash and coupon donations from the Friends of the Wheatfield Library, Movie Madness, Marcella’s Pizzeria, Schnick’s, Quiznos of Wheatfield, DeMotte Dairy Queen, Dad’s Diner, Family Express Corporation, Indiana Beach, Build a Bear Organization, Boersma Funeral Home, Hamstra Builders, First Trust Credit Union, Bierma Hardware, and Tysen’s Grocery  made this year’s Summer Reading Programs for both young children and teens a great success, and we extend our sincerest thanks to everyone for their generous donations.

Thanks again to all area businesses that helped to make the Summer Reading Program such a hit!
