Photographers urged to submit to Bicentennial Book by May 15

The Indiana Bicentennial Commission is inviting Hoosier photographers to submit photos for the Indiana at 200: A Celebration of the Hoosier State coffee table book that will be available for sale during 2016.

The deadline for submission is May 15, 2015.

Photos must be taken in Indiana and should reflect in some way one or more of the following aspects of the state:

• Natural Environment and Landscape
• Buildings and Architecture
• Cities and Towns
• Farms and Fields
• The Hoosier People
• Schools and Libraries
• Transportation
• Business and Commerce
• Medicine and Health
• Religion and Philanthropy
• Government
• Media and Communication
• Arts, Culture and Entertainment
• Sports

Perry Hammock, Executive Director of the Indiana Bicentennial Commission, said hundreds of photos had already been submitted for the book, and urged photographers wanting to beat the competition for inclusion in the once-in-a-lifetime project to focus on “faces of Hoosiers enjoying Indiana.”

Hammock, speaking about the project May 7 at the Government Information Day at the Indiana State Library, said the commission was specifically not looking for photos of “barns, cornfields or sunsets,” at this time, but urged photographers to look through their works for photos that captured the diversity of the state.

Staffers for the commission said Friday only about 10 photos had been submitted from Jasper County to date.
