JC Military Gravesites Project now available at libraries and online

In honor of Jasper County military veterans, Kyle Eenigenburg has presented each branch of the Jasper County Public Library with a binder detailing military veterans buried in Jasper County cemeteries.

September is good time to be prepared

No one wants to think about the unthinkable, but that is exactly what National Preparedness Month (ready.gov) is encouraging us to do.  The idea is to be prepared for the “worst case scenario.”

Meteorologist, Tom Skilling, was moved to tears by the awesomeness of the solar eclipse of 2017. It WAS awesome, so bright and beautiful at its peak, with the earth covered in darkness for a few minutes, right in the middle of the day.

Come to the library for books, news, facts

The other day someone asked about the rumors that our local grocery store (Rensselaer) might be closing. Fortunately, the library keeps several local and regional newspapers on hand and we were able to dispel the rumors with facts.

DeMotte Historical Society Celebrates 20 Years in 2017

On Jan. 2, 1997 a group of individuals with the same passion for preserving the history of DeMotte held their first organizational meeting.  The first board members were Donna Lageveen, Jack Hart, Kathleen Van Der Molen, Norman Chappell, Irene Evans, Robert Cheever and George Konovsky.
