Are you ready for some football?  If you remember that phrase, then you’re already aware that the games have, indeed, begun.

Fantasy Football fans are busy checking the stats and choosing players. They are busy setting the DVR to ensure not one minute of the game is lost to them.

2016 Indiana Torch Relay underway

Celebrate “One” Indiana this fall with the Indiana Bicentennial Torch Relay, a five-week program designed to inspire and unify Hoosiers as one of the major commemorative events of the 2016 Bicentennial celebration.

Hoosiers will also symbolically “pass the torch” connecting generations to IGNITE our future.

New Adult Fiction is 'Flying' Off the Shelves at JCPL!

Wandering off to look at furniture while in a big box store with my husband, I chatted on the phone while sampling some of the sofas. Sitting comfortably and thinking this sofa would look nice in my family room, I glanced over to a very comfortable looking recliner that would also fit just right.

Original: first or earliest; being that from which copies are made. That is the definition of the word “original,” according to the Webster’s Dictionary.

DeMotte Library Celebrates 50 Years

On Monday, Aug. 15, the DeMotte Library will celebrate its 50th anniversary. The first library, opened on Monday, Aug. 15, 1966, occupied a small room in a building just north of the railroad tracks.

Keith Robinson, who was the publisher of the Kankakee Valley Post News and owner of the building agreed to share his space with the library.

I love words, but have recently become confused by the use of the word “hack.” Looking it up in Webster’s Dictionary, the definition was just as I expected; ‘short, dry cough;’ ‘to manage successfully,’ ‘computer hacking’ ‘to cut, or chop roughly or with heavy blows.’
