Summer Reading volunteers serve ice cream at the program kick-off in Rensselaer.

Looking for something to do this summer? Need service hours completed for a school or community group? Want to spend time with friends? Or kids? Then consider becoming a volunteer at your local library for the Summer Reading Program.

Volunteering looks great on a scholarship or college application or job resume, and is an easy way to give to your community. KV students who have taken part in the KV Reality Store can take note: this is a FREE way to give to your charity!

The tasks assigned to our Summer Reading Volunteers may vary, but you can be guaranteed they won’t be too boring and you probably won’t work up a sweat…can’t get much better than that!

Volunteers also can receive special thank yous for service earned, including a party at the end of the summer.

The DeMotte Library will be holding a Volunteer Workshop on Thursday, June 5 at 2 p.m., and the Rensselaer Library will be holding its Volunteer Call-Out on Friday, June 6 at 3:30pm.

Anyone interested can contact the libraries to sign up, or sign up online later this month at www.myjcpl.org/events, or by calling DeMotte at 987-2221 or Rensselaer at 866-5881.

We look forward to seeing you this summer!
