The Jasper County Public Library invites teens to “Spark a Reaction” with this summer’s Teen Summer Reading programs at each branch of JCPL.

Teens entering grades 5-12 at DeMotte & Wheatfield can read “Books for Bucks” this summer and while reading and entering to win cash prizes, participants are also invited to enjoy weekly programs held each Thursday at 2pm beginning June 12th.  Registration is required for all Thursday programs.

At the Rensselaer library, teens entering grades 5-12 are invited to read books for weekly prizes as well.  Participants in the Teen Summer Reading Program at the Rensselaer library are also invited to weekly programs, held each Tuesday at 2pm.  The kickoff for the weekly Teen programs will be held on Tuesday, June 10th at 3pm, and will include a series of relay activities with lots of color thrown in.  Dress to be a mess and register to attend.

To register for the library’s Spark a Reaction teen programs, visit or call the DeMotte Library, 987-2221, Wheatfield Library 956-3774, or the Rensselaer Library 866-5881. Or go to the website at myjcpl.org/events.

For teens who want to volunteer this summer with the Summer Reading programs, kids who have completed 5th -11th grade are invited to call the Rensselaer Library at 866-5881, or DeMotte Library at 987-2221.

Looking for a group reading program? The Teen Book Discussion at the Wheatfield Library is for those who are going into grades 7-12. In June we will be sharing The Fault in Our Stars by John Green – copies of the book are available at the front desk.  Book Discussion will be Thursday, June 26th from 4-5pm.  Call the library at 956-3774 or register online at myjcpl.org/events.

If you want to put a Spark in your reading all year long, be sure to look for other teen book programs at all our locations throughout the year.
